Garst SeedsGarst Seed Company has a whole bunch of alfalfa varieties for growers including the newly added 6426. Here’s what their latest release says.

“Delivering genetics that provide exceptional forage yield potential as well as high feed value are top priorities in our variety selection process,” says Phil Kunz, alfalfa product manager for Garst. “Earlier this year, Garst brand 6415 set a world yield record for nonirrigated alfalfa in research trials at Michigan State University. This top-end yield is a clear indication of how well our alfalfa performs in the field.”

In addition to outstanding yield potential, 6426 has an excellent disease package (30 DRI) and has our highest level of resistance to date (~78 percent) to potato leafhoppers, which makes it a good risk management variety where this pest is a concern. 6426 has a late fall dormancy with an excellent winter hardiness score of 2.6. It also delivers excellent forage quality with very good recovery after cutting. 6426 is widely adapted and performs well in all the traditional dormant alfalfa markets of much of the United States.
