Igenity For DNA Profiling at Weaning

Chuck ZimmermanAgribusiness, Audio

Kevin DeHaanI’m working out of a nice media room here at the Cattle Industry Summer Conference. It’s being sponsored by Merial.

Pictured here are Kevin DeHaan, director of technical services, Igenity, a division of Merial, and Wendy Mayo, Bader Rutter.

I talked with Kevin about Igenity and what it can do for cattle producers, both beef and dairy. He says that right now is a good time to think about getting some DNA profiling done to enhance the weaning process. More information is always better. I’ll let Kevin explain how and why.

  1. I address to you for a special request as chaiman of the OID group which is a subgroup of the technical Working Group (ISO) on standardisation of animal identification.

I would be pleased to get more detailled information about the structure (length, numeric code etc.) of Igenity to understand if there is a standardized format to be put into the advance transponder (technology of tomorrow).

    Thank you
