Steinhauer Wins 2008 Presidents Award

Congratulations to Gary Steinhauer! He has received the 2008 Wisconsin Dairy Products Association Presidents Award. Steinhauer will be honored at a special awards dinner on Sunday, July 13 at the 2008 Dairy Symposium. The Dairy Symposium will be held July 13-14, 2008 at the House on the Rock Resort in Spring Green, Wis.

Steinhauer spent 24 years working for Madison Dairy in Madison, Wis. Prior to joining Madison Dairy, he worked for two years for the Mead Corporation in New York City and two years for Champion International in Milwaukee, WI. In 1980, he joined the family business – Madison Dairy.

Steinhauer served as vice president of Madison Dairy for 24 years. Under his leadership, the company grew to become one of the leading butter manufacturers in the United States. In 2000, Land O’Lakes acquired Madison Dairy. Steinhauer continued working for the company until 2004. In 2005, he and two of his brothers (also former Madison Dairy employees) formed Steinhauer & Co.

Steinhauer served as president of the Wisconsin Dairy Products Assn. (WDPA) in 1990. He also served a total of twelve years on the WDPA board of directors. In addition to his service to the board, he was involved in numerous WDPA committees and activities.

Besides his involvement with WDPA, Steinhauer was active with the American Butter Institute and served as its president. On a local level, Steinhauer was a past president of Goodwill Industries of Southern Wisconsin and the Nakoma Golf Club. He currently serves on the board of directors for United Way of Dane County Foundation, Lutheran Social Services Foundation, Goodwill Industries of Southern WI and Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra.
