Farms Keep N.Y. Green

Recently Amanda posted a YouTube video called “Dairy Farmers Love Feeding Families.” Created by the New York Animal Agriculture Coalition. The group is focused on reconnecting the publics’ understanding of and appreciation for animal agriculture through: media engagement, public education, and by fostering cooperation between industry stakeholders.

The group has also recently introduced several billboards that will be used through-out New York state to help spread the positive message about the dairy industry. Check them all out!

  1. I can’t thank you enough for making this campaign public. I farm in NY but I heard about it here first. Lately this blog has become the go-to place for dairy information and I thank you for it.

  4. The video states: “The way you treat your own family”… really? I doubt that you would artificially inseminate a member of your “family”, nor would you seperate a newborn from her mother within days… Nor would “family” isolate bull calves and send them to slaughter as babies. Dairy = veal… “Family” does not make a profit from selling each other as flesh or commodities. The myth is further distorted when we consider – that we don’t “need” milk/dairy at all…Such needless cruelty… passed off as “wholesome” food. No animal should have to endure what dairy cows are subject to. Animal agriculture, specifically dairy is a far stretch from humane – let alone “family-like”.

  7. Really? I think dairy farmers probably treat their animals better than many people treat their own children – or would be children. Artificial insemination? What about IVF and the countless “snowflake” babies that are frozen? Separating a newborn from her mother – what about our millions of abortions? Selling flesh as a commodity? Try prostitution. Humans are far from humane to themselves or others – but, nice try. And maybe you don’t need or want dairy products – but there are a whole lot of people who do. There is no doubt that dairy is the most efficient and – I might add – delicious way to get calcium in your diet – which is something the human body does “need.”
