Donated Heifer Benefits National Jersey Queen

Cris and Doris Rocha, Tillamook, Ore., recently donated a direct female descendant of the 2000 National Jersey Jug Futurity winner, Sunset Canyon MBSB Anthem-ET, to benefit the Charlene Nardone National Jersey Queen Fund.

Rocha Legal Amity, sired by Tollenaars Impuls Legal 233-ET, GJPI 202, is an April yearling due next February to Heartland Merchant Topeka-ET, GJPI 234. She is out of Rocha Lexington Allie-ET, Very Good-87% with two records over 1,000 lbs. fat and a brother at ABS Global Inc.

The National Jersey Queen Scholarship Fund was established in 2005 by Jersey dairy women interested in expanding travel and educational opportunities for the National Jersey Queen and members of the court. It provided a $500 scholarship and all-expenses paid travel to three national Jersey events for 2011 National Jersey Queen, Cassy Krull, Lake Mills, Wis. Scholarships of $300 and $200, respectively, were also provided to the two alternate Queens: Cassandra Chittenden, Schodack Landing, N.Y., and Kelli Carstensen, Petaluma, Calif.
