Nearly 300 dairy producers, industry partners and professionals attended the event. After a gorgeous day of golf, networking, prizes and fun, ANIMART, Inc. presented DBA with a $5,000 donation to go toward DBA’s Crisis Fund. The fund assists DBA dairy producer members when a major occurrence with a potentially negative outcome affects their dairy operation. Crises can include animal disease, natural disasters, food safety and criminal terrorism.

The Dairy Business Association and ANIMART have continually worked together to proactively answer questions on how to handle crisis situations; particularly down or sick cattle. If DBA producers find themselves in a crisis situation, the fund is an added benefit to their membership and is there to assist them.

“We see the increasing pressure and scrutiny dairy producers are under when it comes to animal welfare,” said Dan Ellsworth, President of ANIMART. “Working with them on a daily basis we see the passion, compassion and attachment they have for their animals. We are pleased to help support the DBA Crisis Fund so this powerful message can reach consumers and other stakeholders in the dairy food chain.”

Laurie Fischer, the Dairy Business Association Director of Dairy Policy, added, “There is no easy way to handle a catastrophe on a dairy operation; especially when it involves down cow situations. The biggest challenge is many outside entities are now focusing on how dairy operations address crisis situations. With this generous donation, we can continue working hard to help our dairy producers when crisis situations or disasters occur.”
