animartANIMART, Inc. is hosting their third continuing education (CE) course for certified veterinary technicians. The course will highlight practical cow management at 9 a.m. Thursday, December 18, 2014 at Rosendale Dairy in Pickett, WI. ANIMART has been certification to hold CE classes that are reviewed by the American Association of Veterinary State Boards (AAVSB) and approve all Registry of Continuing Education (RACE) programs.

The program instructor is ANIMART’s Professional Services Veterinarian, Dr. Vicky Lauer. Lauer has been a member of the ANIMART since September, 2013 analyzing and improving calf health as well as working with producers to improve their overall herd health.

“I am excited to help local CVTs basic information about dry cow housing, feeding and management,” said Dr. Vicky. “I will also be providing training on calving management and fresh cow diseases.”

The ANIMART “Practical Cow Management” Continuing Education course will cover three key points: Dry Cow (Housing, Feeding and Management), Calving Management and Fresh Cow Disease. The first part of the CE course is a 90-minute farm tour at Rosendale Dairy followed by a two hour lecture. Two continuing education credits will be awarded to Certified Veterinary Technicians (CVTs) who attend the course in its entirety. CVTs can register by calling Andrea Gruber, CVT at (920)319-4375 or online. Registrations are due by December 4, 2014 on a first-come, first-serve basis.

“Our aim for each CE course is enabling CVTs to better serve the dairy industry,” said Dan Ellsworth, President of ANIMART. “With this particular course, CVTs are able to recognize the job of herd managers and how they can assist with their on-farm duties.”

RACE-approved continuing veterinary education consists of educational activities that serve to maintain, develop, or increase the knowledge, skills, and professional performance and relationships that a veterinary professional uses to provide services for patients, the public or the profession.
