Mollie-Beaver1Mollie Beaver showed she has a voice as big as Texas, as the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association named her as its National Anthem singing contest winner. The 11-year-old Kansas native, whose family has been involved in the cattle industry for generations, will sing the National Anthem at the 2015 Cattle Industry Convention in San Antonio during the Opening General Session Wednesday, Feb. 4 and during the Friday night events on Feb. 6.

As the winner to the National Anthem Singing Contest, Mollie will receive round-trip airfare for two to San Antonio, free convention registration for two, a hotel room for three nights during convention, and western wear from Roper and Stetson. Votes were cast through Facebook and www.beefusa.org to decide the winner.

“Mollie certainly has a voice to be proud of,” said Bob McCan, NCBA president from Victoria, Texas. “The National Anthem contest attracted a lot of great talent from across the country, and the competition was steep again this year. Those travelling to San Antonio for this convention — which is on track to be one of the largest and best yet – will enjoy hearing this talented young lady sing.”

Mollie credits her great uncle with encouraging her to apply for the contest.

The Cattle Industry Convention and NCBA trade show takes place Feb. 4-7 in San Antonio. More information and registration is available here.
