Make Plans to Attend Iowa Swine Day

Speakers include ISU professors; leading technical experts from the nation’s top pork farms and allied industry; respected veterinarians and animal health experts; and key scientists from national pork producer associations.

“Iowa Swine Day has become a ‘don’t miss’ conference for pork producers in Iowa and the Midwest,” says Dr. John Patience, Professor of Animal Science at Iowa State University. “We’ve worked hard again this year to put together a slate of outstanding presenters – from both academia and industry – to share their knowledge on topics that are essential to the sustainability of our pork producers.”

Iowa Swine Day presentations will include:
• “The World Protein Outlook” by William Sawyer, Vice President, FAR Animal Protein, Rabobank, F&A Banking, New York;
• “Communicating with the Public: Getting to the meat of the matter – Changing the tide of not-so-common sense,” by Dr. Alan Wessler, Vice President, Feed Operations and Animal Health, MFA, Inc., Columbia, Mo.;
• “Pigging Out on Science,” by Dr. Joe Schwarcz, Director, Office for Science and Society, McGill University, Montreal; and
• “How Genetics will Drive Production Targets into the Future,” by Dr. Matt Culbertson, Director, Global Product Development, PIC, Hendersonville, Tenn.
