Dairy Products, Inc., brings the American Butter Institute’s membership to 26. Together, these companies market more than 90 percent of all the butter manufactured in the United States.

ABI President Irv Holmes of Challenge Dairy Products in Dublin, California, welcomed Dairy Products, Inc., to the 107-year-old association, which promotes and protects the interests of the butter industry.

“Dairy products, Inc., joins ABI at a time when U.S. consumer interest in butter is rising,” Holmes said. “Just last year, per-capita butter consumption hit a 40-year high and the news media proclaimed, ‘Butter is back.’ Consumers like that butter is natural with a simple ingredient statement…cream, and recent studies have suggested consuming butter could have positive health benefits.”

President Mark Welch said Dairy Products, Inc., looks forward to being an active ABI member. “We were a member more than a decade ago and let our membership lapse,” Welch said. “Recently, we saw that the association had new leadership and was geared to changing how butter is perceived by consumers.

“We especially appreciate the association’s ‘Go Bold With Butter’ promotional campaign,” Welch said. “We look forward to benefiting from this and the other aspects of ABI membership.”
