#WDE15 Dairy Woman of the Year

Jamie JohansenAg Group, award, Dairy, World Dairy Expo

wde-15-114Each year the World Dairy Expo honors individuals who have a true passion for the dairy community. One of those awards is Dairy Woman of the Year and this year that honor was bestowed upon Rosie Geiger.

Rosie has served in numerous leadership position throughout the dairy industry. She works with her husband to run their family farm, Ran-Rose Dairy. They have 15 homebred cows with over 200,000 pounds lifetime milk production and also bred one of the world’s only cow families with one million pounds of lifetime milk in four consecutive generations. The farm has received the Manitowoc County Dairy Herd Improvement Association Udder Heath Award for 19 straight years and the National Mastitis Council National Dairy Quality Award.

“We are very proud of our family and it has always been a family operation. We are not real big. We have about 400 acres and have 120 registered Holsteins.”

Rosie has seen all the technology or lack there of over her time milking cows. She remembers milking in tie stalls and cultivating corn as a ten year old.

“It is a great honor and I will continue doing what I am doing and that is telling people about the dairy industry and about Wisconsin’s great cheese.”
