Dairy in our DNA was the theme for the 2015 World Dairy Expo and Mark Futcher, market development manager for DeLaval’s capital goods and equipment portfolio in North America, said they have that. They have been supporting and servicing the dairy industry globally since 1878.
Innovation changes everything was the take home messages as you walked through their booth. On display were a number of products on the animal health side as well as equipment. During the interview we stood in front of the teat spray robot and got to see it in action.
“The teat spray robot is for pre and post application of disinfectant in an external rotary parlor. Rotary parlors are becoming extremely common based on their efficiency and accommodation of the cow. It produces a calm, routine, consistent process. The teat spray robot automates some of those steps that would typically be performed manually.”
Another innovation on display was the body condition score camera. Many farms are collecting scores weekly and it becomes a very labor intensive and subjective process. “By automating that process with a camera we eliminate the subjectivity and labor reaching a much higher level of accuracy.”
