JNHE-official-logo 900 members of the National Junior Hereford Association (NJHA) were in Madison, Wisconsin, last week to participate in the annual Junior National Hereford Exposition (JNHE). The expo’s cattle show brought in over 1600 entires vying for over $50,000 in prize money, and the many leadership opportunities available for participants, with events in the areas of team sales and marketing, photography, youth judging, and showmanship, provided additional educational outlets to help expand leadership skills of the Hereford industry’s youth members.

Amy Cowan, Director of Youth Activities and Foundation for the American Hereford Association and Director of the Hereford Youth Foundation of America, was on hand for an interview during the expo, which she played a major role in organizing.

“The youth are the future of the agriculture industry, and for sure of the Hereford breed, and we’re really proud of what our youth accomplish as junior members, and it’s great to watch them to go on to be successful adults and members of the industry,” she said.
