US Dairy Export Council The three national dairy trade associations have plans to unveil a major economic analysis on the consequences of surrendering to the European Union on common cheese names in a webinar for media Tuesday, October 11, at 11 a.m. EDT.

The webinar will include a 60-page analysis that shows how the EU’s anti-competitive approach to geographical indications will cost U.S. dairy farmers a cumulative $59 billion in revenues over 10 years. The analysis will also describe how the EU approach will both increase prices and reduce choices for consumers.

The analysis was commissioned by the Consortium for Common Food Names (CCFN)and conducted by Informa Economics IEG, a leader in agricultural and commodity/product market research and analysis.

Joseph Somers from Informa Economics will present the details of the study in the webinar, along with Jim Mulhern, president and CEO of the National Milk Producers Federation; Tom Suber, president of the U.S. Dairy Export Council, and Jaime Castaneda, executive director of CCFN.
