RSS

One of the features of World Dairy Diary is a news feed of our updates. This allows you to automatically receive our updates on your computer!

You can subscribe to the news feed of this website by using a news reader program or other news feed readers. This functionality is being added to new web browsers and the customized home pages of most search engines like Google or Yahoo. We like NewsGator as one example of a great and simple tool to subscribe to news feeds like ours.

On every page of World Dairy Diary you’ll see an icon in the top searchbar that looks like this: Subscribe To RSS Feed

That is actually a link to the file that your news reader program will need to automatically subscribe to our updates. What you do is copy that file into the appropriate subscription box in your news reader program or into the appropriate box in your personalized search engine home page where it allows you to “add content.” Simply copy and paste that file which is: http://animal.agwired.com/?feed=rss2. That’s it. You’re done. Then all you have to do is check your news reader or search engine home page to get the latest updates from World Dairy Diary.

Podcast

A podcast is basically a recorded radio program in the form of a digital audio file, usually an MP3 file. This audio file is included in an RSS Feed so that your computer can subscribe to it and automatically download that audio file for you to listen to either on your computer or portable audio player, like an iPod.

You’ll need podcast subscription software on your computer (see this list) or you can now easily subscribe if you have iTunes or Yahoo Music Engine.

With your podcast subscription software or online music service you’ll want to use the following file link in the appropriate subscription box to subscribe to The Milking Parlor Podcast: http://www.zimmcomm.biz/wdd/milking-parlor-podcast.xml

That’s it. Then your software will check that file for the latest Milking Parlor podcast and automatically download it onto your computer into the folder you specified when you set up the software. If you use a digital audio player, the file will be placed onto it when you synchronize the player with your computer. Then you can listen to the program whenever and wherever you want.
