It’s a dirty job but somebody has to do it.
With all these cows there’s just only so long they can wait and when they can’t anymore there’s somebody to take care of business.
Judging by the level in the wheelbarrow, there’s been some who can’t. You understand what I’m saying?
At the end of each breed show the head judge gets to announce his reasons and description of each of the animals that placed.

I don’t know if he’s really the Czar of Cows or not but he could be after his cow gets painted.
You may know all about the Cow Parade that’s here in Wisconsin and at World Dairy Expo. There’s cows on display around the show and here in Steve Kozar’s booth, he’s painting one. I got to interview him while he was working. I was wondering why he had a “wet paint” sign taped to his cow and it’s because the cow quite literally has wet paint on it each day as he works.

Here’s a little bit of news for you dairy farmers. It sounds like there’s a lot still going on behind the scenes in Washington, DC on the Milk Income Loss Contract expiration. This report is from my partner and wife, Cindy.
The Milk Income Loss Contract (MILC) program was the cause of a delay in the Senate Agriculture Committee’s budget reconciliation meeting that was scheduled to take place on Thursday October 6. The meeting was postponed until further notice on Wednesday, and Committee Chairman Saxby Chambliss (R-GA) issued a statement Thursday morning about the delay. According to Chambliss:
“We did achieve the difficult balance for conservation and food stamp spending and among program crops; however, some committee senators said they were concerned at the cost of extending the MILC program at the expense of other commodity programs. There is strong support for this counter-cyclical dairy program among both parties within this committee, but it does not appear there is the support that is necessary. This committee is still required to choose where $3 billion in 5-year deficit reduction cuts will come from. As a committee, we must participate with other committees that are cutting the budget, or we lose the right to choose our cuts when the Congress votes on budget reconciliation.”
The MILC program expired on September 30. The budget reconciliation meeting has yet to be rescheduled.
The final day has dawned and it’s going to be another beautiful day to visit World Dairy Expo.
Attendance yesterday was over 15 thousand! We’ve had visitors from 80 countries outside the United States so far this week.
Today’s forecast from the Weather Channel says: A mix of clouds and sun. High 54F. Winds NE at 5 to 10 mph.
On the schedule today is the International Holstein Show, the close of the Invest in our Best silent auction and everything concludes with the “Parade of Champions,” which is scheduled for 5:30pm this afternoon.
It was standing room only for the Woodstock Water Buffalo Company virtual farm tour this afternoon. It was estimated that there were over 150 people there to learn about the animal that’s responsible for about 15 percent of the world’s milk.
Dairy Manager, Kent Underwood, gave a great presentation and afterward we had samples of water buffalo milk yogurt.

Seating was kind of at a premium at the International Reception. There were a lot of people there.
So what did people do? They made their own seats.
At the end of day number 4 (Friday) Hoard’s Dairyman sponsored another reception. This one was in honor of the international visitors to World Dairy Expo. You’ve got to love a company that knows how to throw a party!
At this reception there was music and good food.
