Check Your Cheese

Chuck ZimmermanExhibitor, World Dairy Expo

Cheese StorageI’ve heard of a coat room at a banquet. How about a cheese storage room at a farm show?

I’ve been putting off buying some cheese here in the America’s Dairyland Marketplace because I can’t leave until Sunday. I didn’t know that the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board is offering to store your purchases in a refrigerator until you’re ready to leave.

How handy is that? Great idea.

Meetings In The Lounge

Exhibitor MeetingBesides having a place to relax and check email the exhibitor lounge also serves as a good place for an impromptu meeting.

I’m sure these guys are discussing serious business. They wouldn’t be talking football now would they?

Email Availability Popular With Exhibitors

Exhibitors On ComputersAlthough there’s not a publicly available computer center, the exhibitors who are working here do have a lounge area with computers that allows them to check and send email.

It sure is handy being able to take a break and get caught up back at the office! Each time I’ve stopped by here all the computers are in use.

Educational Seminars Continue Each Day

SeminarThey’re not as “visible” as the shows, sales and exhibits but there are a lot of different seminars that are offered to people attending Expo.

This particular seminar was being held this morning in the Exhibition Hall and put on by Harvestore.

Harvestore SeminarAs you can see from the schedule there’s lots of flexibility in when you can participate in some of these educational sessions.

Tommy MartinThe National Dairy Shrine has an exhibit here at Expo and some of its board members like Tommy Martin, seen here on the left. Tommy is an old friend of mine that I haven’t seen in over 15 years. He’s also here working for Merial.

National Dairy Shrine brings together dairy producers, scientists, students, educators, marketers and others who share a desire to preserve our dairy heritage and keep the dairy industry strong. Founded in 1949 by a small group of visionary dairy leaders, National Dairy Shrine now has over 17,000 members encompassing virtually every facet of the industry.

Economic Impact Comparison

Chuck ZimmermanWorld Dairy Expo

Economic ComparisonWe all know that the dairy industry means a lot to Wisconsin’s economy but it’s always helpful to have that put in comparison to better understand it.

This display shows how much more dairy means to Wisconsin than citrus means to Florida or potatoes to Idaho.

Show Me Your Dairy

Chuck ZimmermanExhibitor, World Dairy Expo

Missouri Dairy AssociationI’m from the Show-Me state so I had to get a picture of the booth for the Missouri Dairy Association. They’re trying to attract and grow Missouri’s dairy industry.

But then, so are a lot of other states. While wandering around I found booths for Wisconsin and Minnesota and I know there are more.
