Since I’m on Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board news, besides the board election they approved a new budget at its April board meeting. The budget will be invested in local, state and national promotion/marketing programs from July 1, 2006, through June 30, 2007.
Cheese Business | $15,609,000
Communications/Local Promotions | $ 9,900,000
Administration | $ 1,139,000
Capital Appropriations | $ 9,900,000
Contingency Fund | $ 324,000
Total FY2007 WMMB Budget | $27,155,000 |
Approximately $190,000 was re-allocated in the Communications & Local Promotions budget from an on-farm milk quality program and added to other in-state programs designed to support local promotional organizations, nutrition education activities through the Wisconsin Dairy Council, and fluid and related promotions that reach consumers through retail and foodservice outlets. National publicity efforts, television programming and other public relations activities were also strengthened.
WMMB’s FY2007 Cheese Business budget continues to support cheese marketing and promotional programs in all 50 states in the national retail grocery and foodservice market segments. Activities in the Cheese Business portion of the budget include national print and broadcast advertising, trade shows and special events. Also included in this area is support for the Wisconsin Center for Dairy Research.
