3-A-Day School Grants

3-A-Day /><a href=3-A-Day of Dairy has made 35 grants to schools to help promote dairy. Here’s a sampling of some of the schools receiving grants and what they plan to do with the money.

  • Children attending Central City Catholic Schools (Pennsylvania) are on their way to a healthier diet with the 3-A-Day of Dairy Grant to help empower them to be advocates for healthy eating, including three servings of dairy foods a day. The Central City Catholic Schools plan to use their $5,000 grant to teach children about the importance of dairy and healthy foods through practice and use of recipes based on the USDA’s MyPyramid and other nutrition topics.
  • Students attending schools in eight counties in southwestern North Dakota are on their way to a healthier diet with the 3-A- Day of Dairy Grant to help empower them to be advocates for healthy eating, including three servings of dairy foods a day. The RESP Coordinated School Health Program plans to use their grant award to teach children about the importance of dairy and healthy foods by sponsoring a “Go Dairy” Week at Trinity High School, Berg Elementary and Lincoln Elementary in Dickinson, N.D. and Lincoln Elementary in Beach, N.D.

  • Children attending Davenport Elementary School (Oklahoma) are on their way to a healthier diet with the 3-A-Day of Dairy Grant to help empower them to be advocates for healthy eating, including three servings of dairy foods a day. The Lincoln County Health Department plans to use the $5,000 grant award to teach fourth, fifth and sixth graders about the importance of dairy and healthy foods by implementing The Power of Choice and Calcium Serving Increase-the-3-A-Day Way curriculum.
  • Children attending Lexington Middle School (Missouri) are on their way to a healthier diet with the 3-A-Day of Dairy Grant to help empower them to be advocates for healthy eating, including three servings of dairy foods a day. Lexington Middle School plans to use the $5,000 grant award to teach children about the importance of dairy and healthy foods by incorporating dairy nutrition and life-long exercise lessons in fifth grade health and physical education classes.
  • Children attending Como Park Senior High School (Minnesota) are on their way to a healthier diet with the 3-A-Day of Dairy Grant to help empower them to be advocates for healthy eating, including three servings of dairy foods a day. Como Park Senior High School plans to use their grant award to teach children about the importance of dairy and healthy foods by empowering students to become advocates for healthy eating, including three servings of dairy a day and increasing the students physical activity.
  • Children attending Nativity B.V.M. school in East Dubuque, Illinois are on their way to a healthier diet with a 3-A-Day of Dairy Grant to help empower them to be advocates for healthy eating, including three servings of dairy foods a day. Nativity B.V.M. plans to use its $5,000 grant to teach children about the importance of dairy and healthy foods by promoting dairy foods at lunch and school events, advertising in local newspapers, participating in parades and sporting events, having students mentor other kids and teens on the health benefits of dairy, and partnering with local grocers.
