Here’s some more information on the previous post…cookies and a bus ride…Sounds like a good idea to me! Milk anyone?
It’s the brainchild of marketers for the California Milk Processor Board, who are hoping the captive crowds waiting for a bus will be enticed to go home and grab a glass of milk after they take a whiff of the artificial scent and are cued visually with “Got Milk?” advertisements to be posted in the shelters.
The just-out-of-the-oven cookie bouquet will be embedded in scent-infused adhesive strips. They will be affixed throughout the interior of the shelters, including underneath the seats. Arcade Marketing of New York created the technology, called MagniScent. The “Got Milk?” campaign was developed by the San Francisco advertising firm Goodby, Silverstein & Partners. This is taking it to the next level.
Olfactory marketing blitzes aren’t new. There’s the “new car” aroma at auto dealerships, “fresh-brewed coffee” smells in convenience stores and “rose scents” for florists. Moviegoers may get a whiff of popcorn when they enter the theater.
