Dairy cow enthusiasts from across the country gathered in Harrisburg, Pa. this week for the 46th All-American Dairy Show. And today, the crown jewel of the show, the Supreme Champion, was awarded to Old Mill E. Snickerdoodle, owned by Allen Bassler, Jr. of Upperville, Va.
A seven-time All-American Brown Swiss, this 11-year-old cow was Supreme Champion of the All-American Dairy Show for the second year in a row, and third time as Grand Champion. Winner of the Component Merit class, she also topped the Premier National Junior Show on Sept. 21.
Cargill Animal Feed and Nutrition sponsored the Supreme Champion’s $3,000 cash prize.
Seven judges sorted through 1,027 animals to choose the top cow of each breed, and six of those judges collaborated to pick the overall winner. The seven judges of the All-American Show were: Norman Nabholtz, West Union, Iowa; Richard Hill, Cattaraugus, N.Y.; Roger Turner, Guelph, Ontario, Canada; Randy Frasier, Johnstown, N.Y.; Andrew Vander-Muelen, Brighton, Ontario, Canada; Wayne Sliker, St. Paris, Ohio; and Jeremy McDonald, Middleton, Va.

Milking Shorthorn: Clayside FST Valora 8A22, Nick Wright, Cushing, Okla.
Red & White: Windor-Manor Romanc-Red-ET, Claire and Justin Burdette, Mercersburg, Pa.
