Consumer Perception of Ag Not Improved in 2010

It looks like agriculture has a ways to go to change public perceptions according to our latest ZimmPoll. In answer to the question, “Do you think the general consumer perception of agriculture changed in 2010?” 43% say “No it didn’t really change,” while 30% say “Yes, it got worse,” and 27% said “Yes, it improved.” Where do you fall in those categories? That’s 73% of our respondents who think it didn’t change or got worse. Sounds like we really do need some campaigns to reach out to consumers doesn’t it?

The new poll is now live and the question is, “What do you think will have the biggest influence on ag in 2011?” There are no doubt many factors that will have an influence. We’ve picked a couple. When I post the results next week you can add any others you’d like to the discussion.

  1. Your campaigns to improve your image should leave out the likes of Rick Berman and David Martosko…..

    David Martosko was arrested just a few months ago for yet another alcohol-related incident. He was taken into custody and charged with Class 3 and Class 4 Misdemeanor offenses: trespassing on school/church grounds at night, public swearing, and intoxication. This is Martosko’s 18th run-in with the law that we are aware of. http://humanewatch.info/blog/

    And farmers are using this guy to polish up their image? What a joke!

  4. Mike McGrath is an HSUS political gadfly. HSUS, unable to answer to a long list of fraudulent fund raising issues, lawsuit, RICO investigations, and IRS questioning, has sent forth people like Mike McGrath to smear the reputation of the people who speak loudest against HSUS. I have direct evidence that this page of “run ins” with law enforcement, has been photoshopped, because I have multiple screenshots that all show different information, depending on how bad they want David to look. This is just the worst incarnation.

    Here’s the other way you know Mike McGrath is telling a lie. He isn’t defending the HSUS’s most indefensible positions, he is playing kill the messenger with falsified “evidence”. Even if he was right (and he isn’t) how does that justify Wayne Pacelle supporting sociopathic dog killer Michael Vick getting a dog, while working hard to make owning livestock more expensive and more difficult?
