Jersey Youth Acadamy Receives Gifts

jersey logo newGifts in memory of Donald S. Sherman, Hilmar, Calif., have now been made by 73 individuals, companies and organizations to scholarship and educational funds operated for the benefit of Jersey youth by the American Jersey Cattle Association.

Donnie, one of the 12 founding owners of Hilmar Cheese Co., was one of only 11 people to receive the two highest awards presented by the association: the Master Breeder Award in 2010 and the Distinguished Service Award in 2011. He was elected the association’s President in 2004 and served three terms.

Gifts to the D&E Scholarship Fund received from November 15 to December 10 came from James A. and Linda L. Billman, West Salem, Ohio; William J. and Valerie Christoph, Fallon, Nevada; Chipponeri Electric, Inc., Hilmar, Calif.; Clint L. Collins III, Alpine, Ala.; A. L. Gilbert Company, Oakdale, Calif.; John J. and Judy A. Jeter, Turlock, Calif.; John H. and Elaine A. Kokoski, Hadley, Mass.; Doug, Carol and Emma Lathem, Dalhart, Texas; David Santos Farming, Los Banos, Calif.; Jerry T. and Sue Spielman, Seneca, Kans.; and Charles and Carol Steer, Cottage Grove, Tenn.

A memorial gift designated for Jersey Youth Academy was received from the Virginia Tech Dairy Club.
