Showing that lean beef is an important part of the training regimen for long distance runners, Team Beef runners were able to “beat the bridge,” an important milestone to being able to finish the recent Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, D.C. This news release from the beef checkoff says the runners were sponsored by the beef checkoff’s Northeast Beef Promotion Initiative and received nutritional education on how best to incorporate lean beef into their diet during training, as well as a running jersey to wear during the race for moral support on the course.
“We are so proud of our MCM Team Beef runners,” says Jennifer Orr of the Northeast Beef Promotion Initiative. “It was great to be able to bring together so many people from all across the country who understand that lean beef is an invaluable component in their diet regimens to help with weight management and muscle development.”

The beef checkoff also participated in the First Timers Rally and the Kids Fun Run with Fuel Your Passion founder & nutritionist Kim Schawbenbauer earlier in the weekend. They also had a booth at the Health & Fitness Expo throughout the weekend where they passed out lean beef sticks for post-race snacks and answered nutritional questions from attendees.
