uspoultryUSPOULTRY and the USPOULTRY Foundation have completed a research project at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, GA.  The project studied a new filtration method for processing facility effluents.  It was done as part of the Association’s research program encompassing poultry, egg production and processing.

John Pierson at the Georgia Institute of Technology recently completed a research project where he looked at a new method for filtration of processing facility effluents. The new method, called dynamic filtration, was tested on actual processing effluent and found to provide significant advantages over currently used filtration methods.

Dynamic filtration gives increased recovery of fine suspended solids such as fats and proteins, providing more material for rendering. In addition, it provides enhanced opportunities for water reuse and recycling inside a processing plant. The cost savings for the processing industry are estimated to be very significant.
