manureAccording to Wageningen UR Livestock Research the newly launched Manure Knowledge Kiosk offers resources, knowledge and connections to support improved manure management.

Good manure management is essential in recycling nutrients and organic matter for healthy and productive soils. It enhances food security while reducing emissions to the environment. Www.manurekiosk.org offers to all stakeholders in the livestock sector a one-stop-shop to support and technical services.

The Kiosk is part of Livestock and Manure Management Component of the Agriculture Initiative supported by the Climate and Clean Air Coalition to Reduce Short-Lived Climate Pollutants (CCAC). This is part of a broader global effort to address short-lived climate pollutants (SLCPs) – including methane and black carbon- emissions from key agricultural sectors by sharing and implementing best practices in a manner that enhances food security and livelihoods and is consistent with broader climate change objectives.

The Kiosk focuses on providing support to countries, projects and practitioners to help them in improving manure management, and to connect them to the knowledge, skills, and resources they need. In practice this means:

– access to an international library on manure management;
– access to a Roster of Experts for assistance;
– show-case examples of actual practice change;
– connection to the Livestock GEO-wiki, showing global information about and the impact of manure management.
