Updating agri-marketers on industry trends and educating them on the latest research and technology is always the goal of the NAMA Bootcamp and this year’s event also served that purpose. On the Mo-Kan Farm pre-conference tour attendees stopped at Byergo Angus Farms in Northwest Missouri to get a short-course on purebred beef production and direct market beef.
Bryson Byergo led the tour and came back to town to talk to the group in the Livestock 101 breakout session. I caught up with him there to learn more about his family operation and his message to those marketing ag products.
“Hopefully they go home with a better understanding of what a day-to-day operation looks like in the beef industry. And get a little appreciation for what everyone in the process does along the way. Not only me as a cow-calf producer, but the veterinarians and those on down the line. Everyone in the process has one goal and that is to produce the highest quality beef.”
Consumers sometimes get the impression from mainstream media outlets that farmers and ranchers are just out to make a buck. Bryson really wants to relay the passion he and others in the animal ag community have for their animals. He tried to come up with another word to describe it and passion simply summed it up.
