Jared Spader has a strong and diverse background in agriculture. Currently, he is the US operations lead for AgCall, which serves as a human resources, project management and consulting firm for the ag community. Jared’s experience as a producer and marketer led him to moderate the producer panel at the recent NAMA Bootcamp. The panel is always a highlight for attendees.
Agri-marketers got to sit back and ask producers simple questions like, “Do you use smartphones and tablets?” “How do you want your information delivered?” “Do you like branded content?” “What are your pet peeves when called upon at the farm gate?” “What keeps you up at night and what do you get excited about?”
“We really wanted to dive into how they are adopting new technology and putting that to use and how they are absorbing information from marketers via the technology.”
Jared doesn’t feel anything discussed was a shocker or new, but he stressed that mobile is the future. “The group [farmers and ranchers] doesn’t spend as much time on the internet via computer like they did just five years ago. They get all their information, make all their decisions via mobile devices.” Once a relationship has been established, today’s producers want to conduct business via text. The days of loitering on a phone or sitting at a desk over a computer are over. That trend is growing and not going away.
