Management of World Dairy Expo takes a village of industry professionals, and the man at the helm of it all is Al Deming, President of the World Dairy Expo Board of Directors.
Deming works closely with the Expo’s key staff of about 14 people, as well as over 500 volunteers that offer their time to help the Dairy Expo run as smoothly as possible.
While sitting down at the Expo for an interview with AgWired, Deming had nothing but praise for every one of the individuals working behind the scenes of the event: “World Dairy Expo would not be possible without a total collaboration of people working well together; our key staff would not be able to conduct the event if it wasn’t for the tremendous help from over 500 volunteers,” he said.
While the Expo is known and loved for the quality of cows in the dairy show and for the size of it’s impressive trade show, Deming emphasized that the expo is not just a cow show, but an incredible opportunity for communication, education, and collaboration among members of the industry.
The expo hosts educational seminars, and provides plenty of opportunities for producers to discuss management procedures. It also offers a venue for dairy businessmen from across the globe to meet with each other, network, and gain insight and information to the newest technologies in the industry.
The New Holland Pavilion is equipped with the latest dairy technologies, many new technologies are on display within the trade center, and some of the educational seminars offer virtual tours of real farms, allowing industry members a platform to see real applications of these technologies.
“Sometimes producers learn the most from talking with other producers, says Deming, “and that’s one of the great things about WDE; it’s an opportunity for everyone to get together, to learn, to communicate with each other, and along with the cattle show and trade show, it acts as a sort of fall celebration for the industry.”
