AgriClear has been providing an online platform for buying and selling cattle since June of this year. This novel idea is changing the way business is transacted and is empowering cattlemen and women to buy and sell cattle on their terms with efficiency and payment assurance at it’s forefront. AgriClear allows producers all over the United States and Canada to buy and sell cattle with anyone, anywhere and anytime.

Dr. Nevil Speer, vice president of U.S. operations, and I caught up with him the National Association of Farm Broadcasting’s Trade Talk. He said since their launch the industry response has been great and many are seeing the need for broader market opportunities.

“It’s not an auction. There is never any time pressure and it’s not just a listing service. We are licensed and bonded by USDA and we act as a custodial agent. We provide payment assurance to the seller and deal certainty to the buyer. Putting those together makes us unique. We have no real competitor.”

Looking at the cattle markets in the next couple months, Dr. Speer’s said, “The market feels like it needs to consolidate. It’s trying to find it’s way. We have seen big bounces in those times and I always go back to 2004 right after BSE where we also saw big bounces. Given the losses that are going on in the feedlot sector, we are probably going to continue to see more bouncing around.”
