The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA) has put together an impressive program of events at the 2016 Cattle Industry Convention, with many events centered around the overall improvement of the entire cattle industry. Phillip Ellis, NCBA President, was on hand during the convention to talk about some of this week’s NCBA-sponsored events, as well as the important role NCBA plays in the industry as a whole.
“NCBA provides a presence in Washington, DC on the policy side, and that’s really important,” said Ellis in an interview during CIC. “Our state affiliates work well with our national office, but they have state issues to be involved in, so we have our staff in Washington, DC, watching over Congress and the regulators every day who might be making decisions that could affect us out on our ranch.”
This year marks the 23rd year for the NCBA Cattlemen’s College, held during CIC every year. The event offers a wealth of educational sessions, and has become a top resource throughout the industry for continuing education and profit-building advice.
“There are so many informational sessions here, from issues in technology and science, to issues on the business end of the industry, to ways to help enhance production, all sorts of issues are being discussed at the Cattleman’s College this week,” said Ellis.
