New Holland is a long-standing leader in innovative technology, and those efforts were just recently recognized through an AE50 award for the IntelliCruise Feed Rate Control System for New Holland BigBaler Series Large Square Balers.
The IntelliCruise Feed Rate Control System for New Holland BigBaler Series Large Square Balers allows the baler to run at optimal performance, and works by controlling the speed of the tractor. The varying crop yields of most fields often result in inconsistent swaths, which makes maintaining a consistent feed rate more difficult. The IntelliCruise System helps operators to overcome this challenge by allowing them to achieve targeted operating capacity or specified flake number and uniform thickness while baling.
The equipment also features a new ISOBUS Class III commands, maintaining a capacity set point using a charge sensor. There are two running modes offered on the IntelliCruise: Charge Control Mode and Slice Control Mode.
Charge Control adapts the tractor speed to optimum capacity, offering both inexperienced and experienced producers several benefits.
“I can take an experienced operator, put them in the cab of the tractor, and I can get as much capacity out of the baler and tractor investment as I would using someone who is experienced,” said Curtis Hoffman, Crop Packaging Marketing Manager for New Holland, in an interview at the 2016 Cattle Industry Convention. “A more experienced operator, as they become fatigued throughout the day, will also benefit from this because they’re not as fresh at that point, so it has benefits for both experienced and inexperienced operators.”
Slice Control Mode adjusts the tractor’s speed according to bale slice thickness, allowing the system to strive to obtain the amount of slices defined by the operator.
“It all comes down to having better margins on your hay bales as you’re selling hay,” said Hoffman.
