During the American Association of Swine Veterinarians (AASV) conference in New Orleans, U.S. Swine Business Leader for Alltech, Russell Gilliam, spoke with Chuck about their products for the swine industry. Getting pigs off to a good start while keeping in mind stresses in weaning is the main priority for the Alltech swine team.
Gilliam said, “We work with customers to develop programs that help them reduce the risks. We drive water intake, we drive feed intake and ensure that animal gets off to a really good start.”
Managing the transition of sub-therapeutic antibiotic use is another element Alltech is helping pork producers mitigate. “A number of our customers already know what it is going to take because they are already doing it. We work with the barn managers, the veterinarians, the nutritionist as to who is doing what, what still needs to be done while keeping an open door policy to help get it done quickly.”
Alltech’s annual conference is right around the corner and will feature some of these animal health topics along with much, much more. This year’s event is titled “ONE: The Alltech Ideas Conference” and you should probably mark your calendars for May 22-25 in Lexington, Ky. because it is always more than memorable.
“There will be topics from any subject you can come up with related to agriculture whether you are the veterinarian or the CEO, there will be a place for you at the ONE.” Gilliam also wanted to make clear there are breakout sessions for all interest groups including swine, dairy, beef and aquaculture.
