On this week’s audio report from the U.S. Meat Export Federation (USMEF) discusses the panel discussion on trade issues that was held last week during the Cattle Industry Summer Business Meeting.
USMEF Senior Vice President for Trade Access Thad Lively was one of the panelists, and was joined on the panel by Kent Bacus, National Cattlemen’s Beef Association director of international trade, and Bill Westman, senior vice president of international affairs for the North American Meat Institute. Moderating the panel was broadcaster Ron Hays, director of farm programming for Radio Oklahoma Network.
Lively commented on the continued importance of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), the slow rate of progress in the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) negotiations between the U.S. and the European Union, and the additional obstacle that TTIP supporters may now be faced with following the decision of voters in the United Kingdom to leave the EU.
