Know someone who has gone above and beyond for the sheep industry, either in the past year or throughout their lifetime? Nominations are now open for the American Sheep Associaion’s (ASI) annual awards. There are four award categories available for nomination:
The McClure Silver Ram Award: Presented to a sheep producer who has shown dedication to volunteer commitment and service and has made substantial contributions to the sheep industry and its organizations in his/her state, region or nation.
The Camptender Award: Presented to a professional who has demonstrated industry contributions in a position or field related to sheep production. Nominees should show a strong commitment and contributions to the sheep industry, its organizations and its producers above and beyond what is called for in his/her professional capacity.
The Distinguished Producer Award: Presented to an individual who has had a significant long-term impact on the industry, including involvement with the National Wool Growers Association or American Sheep Producers Council, the predecessor organizations to ASI.
The Shepherd’s Voice Award for Media: Recognizes outstanding year-long coverage of the sheep industry by either print or broadcast outlets. All publications and affiliates related solely to the sheep industry are excluded from the award, allowing for recognition of outlets with general coverage for excellence in covering sheep industry issues.
Awards will be presented at the ASI Convention, Jan. 25-28, 2016, in Denver. The online nomination form can also be downloaded from ASI’s website here.
