Last week while attending the U.S. Soybean Export Federation’s Aquaculture Educational Opportunity in Panama City, Panama we took a quick detour from fish and visited a local steakhouse for dinner. As you walked into Pretelt Gourmet Meats you might have guessed you were stepping into a wild west saloon or an old school butcher shop.
If the decor didn’t get you excited then hearing they serve U.S. beef might do the trick. But for me it was learning they serve Certified Hereford Beef (CHB) that did the trick. As a Hereford cow-calf producer, nothing makes me happier than a satisfied customer and I knew I had to learn more.
Abel Machin, owner, took time to speak to our group and eagerly agreed to join me for our latest AnimalAgCast. The restaurant was a bit loud so we literally stood in the alley to find a quiet place for Abel to share his life-long passion for meat and his successes distributing U.S. meat to Panama and beyond.
Abel’s enthusiasm is quite contagious and it’s pretty exciting to help share his story. Listen to the complete interview to learn why he selected CHB and what the future holds for U.S. meats in Latin America: AnimalAgCast - Abel Machin, Pretelt Gourmet Meats
