Shamrock Farms has donated 5,000 servings of milk to a pair of local food banks. The company ran a Facebook campaign this spring that promised a milk donation for each new “like” on the company’s page.
United Food Bank and Yuma Community Food Bank will use the 8-ounce milk servings to feed kids in need. During the summer, children who normally rely on free or discounted school lunch programs may require extra assistance from charity food providers during the school break.
The donation came at a time when the Yuma Community Food Bank is serving a record number of people.
United Food Bank supplies 250 organizations with food, including retirement homes and kids programs. It also provides 9,000 snack packs a week to kids in need.
