A new face has joined the staff at World Dairy Expo (WDE). This news release says Nicole Smith has joined the group as a communications specialist to help get out the word about WDE’s activities.
She received her Bachelor’s degrees in English and Communication Technologies from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. There she developed her communications skills working in the university’s Public Relations Office and as a student writer for the Education Abroad Office after spending a semester abroad in Newcastle, Australia. She also interned for the Wisconsin Holstein Association and worked as a freelance writer for the Dairy Star. Her most recent employment was working as a Research Specialist with SPi Global, Madison, Wis., before joining the WDE staff.
Smith grew up on her family’s Registered Holstein dairy farm, Quad-R Holsteins, in Monticello, Wis. She was active in the dairy industry, exhibiting her homebred animals at local, state and national shows, including exhibiting at World Dairy Expo, the highlight of her showing career. She was also active in many industry organizations as a member of Monticello FFA, Washington Center 4-H, and the Green County, Wisconsin and National Jr. Holstein Associations.
More than 70,000 dairy producers and industry experts from more than 90 countries travel to Madison, Wisconsin each year to take part in the trade show, tours, seminars and youth competitions. World Dairy Expo will be held Sept. 29 – Oct. 3, 2015 with this year’s theme of Dairy in our DNA.
