The US Poultry and Egg Association (USPOULTRY) named the 2016 Workhorse of the Year, the poultry industry’s most esteemed honor, during the International Poultry Expo, part of the 2016 International Production & Processing Expo (IPPE). This year’s honor was awarded to Elton Maddox, president and CEO of Wayne Farms, and past USPOULTRY chairman, in recognition of his dedicated service and valuable leadership given to both the Association and poultry industry.
Maddox was presented with a commemorative plaque by Sherman Miller, outgoing USPOULTRY chairman. The 2015 Workhorse of the Year recipient, USPOULTRY President John Starkey, also presented Maddox with the award’s long-established horse collar.
“We are honored to distinguish Elton with this special award and recognize his many contributions to the poultry industry and the Association. We are deeply appreciative of his enthusiastic and tireless efforts on behalf of the industry,” remarked Miller.
A native of Georgia, Maddox is a native of Georgia, receiving his BS in engineering from the University of Georgia.
