The Iowa State Dairy Association (ISDA) is pleased to announce Galen and Jeanne Breuer of Hull, Iowa as the 2008 Ralph Keeling Leadership Award Recipients. The Iowa State Dairy Association sponsors the Ralph Keeling Leadership Award which was established to recognize individuals whose leadership efforts contribute significantly to Iowa’s dairy industry. The award is presented annually to outstanding leaders in honor of the late Ralph Keeling.
Galen and Jeanne worked together on their dairy farm for thirty years, taking the time to also raise their three children, volunteer in church and community activities and promote Iowa’s dairy industry. From serving on local and regional boards to representing the industry through many media outlets and farm tours to placing numerous milk vending machines in schools, they have been an asset to the industry. They are also supporters of keeping Iowa’s dairy industry and infrastructure strong for future generations. Galen and Jeanne are now working to transition their dairy to a young couple. Their enthusiasm for the dairy industry and dedication to the future truly demonstrates the spirit of the Ralph Keeling Leadership Award. The ISDA is proud to present this award to such a dedicated and deserving dairy couple.
Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey and ISDA Board President Wayne Dykshorn will present the award at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 8 in the Livestock Show Pavilion during the Iowa State Fair.
