At South Dakota State University, the dairy students pride themselves on their ice cream. The SDSU Dairy Bar sells every flavor imaginable, along with cheese, butter and milk, of course. As a student at SDSU, I have a hard time passing by the Dairy Micro building without stopping by for a quick treat.
Did you know that SDSU students invented the flavor, cookies and cream? Its true! The plant processes approximately 10,000 pounds of milk a week that comes directly from the dairy unit on campus. Dairy products manufactured include 24 cheese varieties, butter, beverage milk, more than 90 flavors of ice cream and sherbet, and ice cream cookie sandwiches. Twenty students are employed at the SDSU Dairy Bar, and it is a favorite stop among visitors at campus.
So, what’s my point? Well, since it’s Monday and it’s President’s Day, I thought we could kick off the week with a little fun. What’s your favorite flavor of ice cream? I used to be a plain vanilla girl, but now I like mint chocolate chip, coffee, or an Argentine favorite–Crema Americana with Dulce de Leche. Yum! Now, it’s your turn. What flavor can’t you live without?
