Quality assurance is the key to getting a jump on consumer concerns related to dairy and livestock production such as nutrient management and animal care.
New Milk Market Research
Do you love or hate milk? That’s apparently one of the questions asked in a new survey that was reported on today on MSNBC. The story says that the study was conducted by BuzzBack Market Research in conjunction with Dairy Management Inc. and Dairy Foods Magazine. Basically they did the study over a 10-day period in early October and 990 adults ages 18-70 years old responded (51% female, 49% male). One of the things they found was that when choosing a particular kind or brand of milk, more than 40% of respondents deem variety and availability very important factors. Additionally:
Mozzarella To Morocco
You’ve got to love an organization that has “working together” in it’s name. There’s so much “not working together” going on in the world today. However, in the working together department Dow AgroScience and Monsanto made a big announcement today too. But back to Cooperatives Working Together. Here’s there announcement today:
Ontario Dairy Farmers Report Milk Marketing Numbers
The Dairy Farmers of Ontario just reported marketings of 2.5 billion litres of milk for the fiscal year ending October 31, 2005. The figure was released with the presentation of DFO’s Annual Report at its 40th Annual Meeting in Toronto on January 11 and represented a slight decrease from the previous year. Some other interesting facts include:
Dairy Nutrition Supplement To JACN
The International Dairy Federation has some papers you may want to look at. They are seven independent scientific review papers that record the views of top nutrition scientists on milk and its role on the diet. They’ve been published as a supplement to the December issue of the Journal of the American College of Nutrition.
American Made Cheese Outlook Good
The Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board says “there’s gold in American-made cheese.” They see the growth in American made specialty cheeses continuing.
How About Those Dairy Exports
According to the IDFA, dairy exports were up significantly in 2005. You can visit their website to see more information and a better image than the one I’ve posted here.
Make That A Double Latte
“Lattes are a good way to add extra calcium to your diet,” says Susan Bowerman, MS, RD, Assistant Director, UCLA Center for Human Nutrition. “They’re better than drinking coffee alone. The calcium and other nutrients in milk, protect bones to guard against osteoporosis, and with nonfat milk, you get the nutrition with few calories.”
A Milk Message For Young Skiers
I ran cross country in high school and it’s the only sport I lettered in. I lived in Florida. If I had grown up in Wisconsin I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t have been on the cross country ski team. Hopefully these kids will do well and learn to drink their milk and ski harder.
DFA's Hallon On Marketing Order Amendment
I thought I’d share a little DFA Radio Talk on the “. . . controversial hearing regarding amendments to the Pacific Northwest and Arizona-Las Vegas milk marketing orders spanned four months and three cities in late 2003 and early 2004 – but it’s finally resulted in USDA’s announcement of a final decision.
