College Competition Mooving Along
As I mentioned previously, these judging contestants are very focused and they have to be. There’s a lot of competition here.
College Level Judging Competition
It looks like the Intercollegiate portion of the judging contest is in full swing. These young adults look very professional! I’m impressed with the suits and the attitude I’ve seen just from a distance. These will be our future leaders and it’s great to see so many young people involved in a great activity like this.
Public Washing Permitted
I just had to take this picture. It kind of reminds me of what I use to do to my kids. Boy would they hate it if I had pictures of that! And, no I didn’t take them out and hose them off. At least not too often. Anyway this calf is getting all cleaned up and will look fresh. Me, I’ve got to go back to the hotel to get a shower.
A Cool Breeze In The Barns
It may be a little warm and humid out but the animals are in a cooler environment than me! They’ve got big fans and mist machines and fresh straw. These barns become a “home” at Expo for not only the animals but their owners as well.
The Weather Is Fine For Grooming
I have never shown cattle but I know how much work is involved. The livestock on display here are absolutely beautiful and one reason is all the care and attention they receive. This is a very common sight today as all the animals are receiving their final groomings.
Expo Awards
I’m not sure yet what all the awards are but I’ll get it figured out. In the media room I saw these two on display. Very cool looking and colorful.
Purple Cow Open
I pointed out the Purple Cow store in a previous post and now it’s set up and in business. There’s all kinds of Expo wear and collectibles for sale here. I’m thinking that the sweatshirts and jackets will sell better toward the end of the week.
Just Segwaying Around
Now this is the way to get around at Expo. Here’s Steve Hefty, Expo Sales Specialist, riding around on his Segway. He told me that they are very easy to use and can basically go anywhere a wheelchair can go. He likes the fact that, unlike a golf cart, they’re smaller and can fit through tighter places like around the booths that are being set up today.
World Dairy Diary Office
I promise I won’t make you look at too many pictures of me. However, I’m very proud and happy with my little office (The Fishbowl) in the Coliseum. This used to be the receptionists office and now I guess it just serves as a communications equipment hub.
