Cooperatives Working Together announced Friday that it has accepted four export assistance bids for the sale of cheese and anhydrous milkfat. The first three bids are from Dairy Farmers of America of Kansas City, MO: one for the export of 200 metric tons (440,000 pounds) of anhydrous milkfat to Russia, one for the export of 18 metric tons (39,600 lbs.) of mixed cheese to Japan, and a third for the export of 18 metric tons (39,600 lbs.) of Mozzarella cheese to Saudi Arabia. The fourth bid is from Land O’Lakes of Arden Hills, MN, for the export of 40 metric tons (88,000 lbs.) of Mozzarella cheese to Taiwan. CWT will pay an export bonus to the bidders, once completion of the cheese and milkfat shipments is verified.

These accepted bids increase CWT’s Year To Date cheese exports to 3,897 metric tons (8.57 million lbs.), and its YTD anhydrous milkfat exports to 1,359 metric tons (2.99 million lbs). In addition, CWT’s YTD butter exports are 5,879 metric tons (12.93 million lbs.), and its YTD whole milk powder exports are 1,924 metric tons (4.23 million lbs.). Those figures have been slightly revised from previous accounts due to small changes in the actual amounts of products that have been shipped.

In the first seven months of 2006, CWT exports add up to the equivalent of 450 million pounds of milk. Since the beginning of the program in July 2003, CWT has helped export the milk equivalent of 550 million pounds.

Previous shipments facilitated by CWT’s export assistance program have gone to Algeria, Barbados, Denmark, the Dominican Republic, Egypt, El Salvador, Germany, Guatemala, Honduras, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Israel, Japan, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Mexico, Morocco, the Netherlands, Nicaragua, Oman, Qatar, Panama, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Trinidad, Tunisia, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, and Vietnam.
