Cash block cheese lost 3 cents mid-week the second week of July but regained 2 1/2 cents on Friday the 13th and closed at $1.96 per pound, down a half-cent on the week, but 80 cents above that week a year ago. Barrel closed at $1.93, up a half-cent on the week, and 81 cents above a year ago. Four cars of block traded hands on the week and none of barrel. The NASS-surveyed U.S. block average hit $2.0204, up 0.4 cent. Barrel averaged $2.0167, up 0.1 cent.

Butter closed Friday at $1.49, up 2 1/2-cents on the week, and 34 1/2-cents above a year ago when it had bottomed out at $1.1450. The latest NASS butter price average hit $1.4695, up 0.2 cent. NASS nonfat dry milk averaged $2.0318, up 3.5 cents, and dry whey averaged 74.71 cents, down 0.1 cent on the week.
