Congratulations to Susan Orth and Rachel Kaehler who have been hired by the World Dairy Expo is pleased to announce two recent hires. Susan has accepted the position of Sales Specialist and Rachel has been named Dairy Cattle Show Coordinator.
Susan has worked both part and full-time as a communications specialist for the Professional Dairy Producers of Wisconsin for the past four years. Prior to that, she interned with Bader Rutter & Associates, was a freelance writer for Agri-View, was a Wisconsin State Fair Agriculture Youth Livestock Intern, and served as Wisconsin’s 2005-2006 Fairest of the Fairs. She holds a degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she majored in animal science and agricultural journalism with a business emphasis. Susan grew up in southwestern Wisconsin on her family’s Orthridge Farms, assisting with the family’s dairy, beef and poultry operations while managing her own flock of sheep.
In her new role, Orth will assist with all aspects of the world’s largest dairy-focused trade show, including booth sales, sponsorship coordination and event management. In 2008, 724 companies from 23 countries, 44 US states and seven Canadian provinces exhibited at World Dairy Expo.
As Dairy Cattle Show Coordinator, Rachel Kaehler will assist with all aspects of hosting the world’s premier dairy cattle show, processing entries and organizing eight national and international breed shows. Rachel is a graduate of North Dakota State University, where she majored in animal science. After completing several internships with Dow AgroSciences, Kaehler worked in South Dakota as a livestock feed sales representative for Land O’ Lakes. She was a territory manager for Cargill Animal Nutrition for four years, serving a five-state territory, including Iowa, South Dakota, North Dakota, Montana andColorado. Most recently, she worked for AC Nutrition, as a dairy calf feed sales specialist, developing a marketing territory in New Mexico.
A native of St. Charles, Minnesota, Kaehler grew up working with her family’s Polled Shorthorn, Angus and Polled Simmental cattle at Kaehler’s Homedale Farms. She has extensive experience showing and judging beef cattle both nationally and internationally. She’s been recognized for her involvement with Farm Safety 4 Just Kids, was a member of the South Dakota Cattlemen’s Association and served on the Professional Dairy Calf Association planning committee.
Susan and Rachel will also work with World Dairy Expo’s for-profit subsidiary, WDE Management, Inc., which oversees the Dane County Fair and provides management services to the Wisconsin Rural Opportunities Foundation, Inc. (WROF), North American Intercollegiate Dairy Challenge (NAIDC) and Purebred Dairy Cattle Association (PDCA).
