Cow-Side Forums Held in Pa.

News EditorEducation

Dairy managers and employees interested in honing their animal care and handling skills should plan to attend one of two Cow-Side Forums, hosted by the Pa. Center for Dairy Excellence, Penn State Department of Veterinary Medicine, Alltech, Land O’Lakes, Inc., and Pennsylvania Beef Council later this month. The advance registration deadline is March 21, 2012.

With an on-farm session planned at both forums, capacity is limited to 40 people at each, so those interested in attending are asked to register with the Center for Dairy Excellence by March 21 to participate. Participants will be taken on a first-come, first-serve basis, and there is no cost to participate.

Both sessions will begin at 8:30 a.m. with a classroom session at a local meeting place, moving to the farm at 10:30 a.m. for hands-on instruction until 3 p.m.

Locations and other details are as follows:

  • Monday, March 26, Cow-Side Forum: Morning session at the Church of God, 2230 Grand Point Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202; Afternoon session at Burk-lea Farms, 3099 Grant Point Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202.
