Scholarships Offered to Women in Dairy Conference

The Center for Dairy Excellence is offering nine scholarships for Pennsylvania-based dairy farmers and dairy farm employees to attend the Women in Dairy 2012 Conference coordinated by the Penn State Extension Dairy Team.

The conference is being held on Wednesday, Nov. 7, at the Best Western Premier Hotel and Conference Center from 9 a.m. – 3:15 p.m. The scholarship will cover the entire registration fee to attend.

The keynote speaker for the conference is Barbara Martin, co-owner of Dairy Goddess Cheese and Milk and the writer of the popular “A Dairy Goddess’s Blog.” She will share her views on the “creation of a goddess.” Other sessions include Tight Finances, Tight Times; Pins, Needles, Residues and Calf Care; Who Is Telling Our Story; Communicating Across the Generation; and Re-entering the Workforce.

The scholarship from the center covers the full cost of registering for both the conference and pre-conference activities. Any hotel or traveling costs are not included in the scholarship and would be at the producer’s expense. More details about the conference itself and hotel accommodations are available online.
